UTBS Academy — part of the Utah Behavior Services continuum of care (now operating under Bridgeway Integrated Healthcare Services) — is a specialized academic support program that blends individualized instruction with behavior-informed therapeutic practices for learners whose needs are not well met in traditional school settings. While not a stand-alone public or typical private school, the Academy provides academic services as part of comprehensive treatment plans for children and young adults who require individualized educational environments alongside behavioral and mental health care.

The program is designed for students roughly ages 3 through 22 who are already receiving behavioral or day treatment services through Utah Behavior Services (now Bridgeway). UTBS Academy supports students who benefit from one-on-one instruction, small group learning, and customized academic plans created in direct coordination with clinicians, therapists, and families. Each learner’s schedule includes individual academic planning and goal setting tailored to their current abilities and developmental needs, whether the focus is traditional academic skills or functional life and social-emotional skills.

Academy instruction can be delivered in one-on-one, small group, or integrated support settings, with emphasis on reading, writing, math, and other core academic areas, as well as functional skill development that aligns with therapy goals. Educators and staff include professionals with backgrounds in education, behavior analysis, and specialty training appropriate for supporting students with behavioral needs.

What sets UTBS Academy apart is its integration of academic learning with therapeutic behavioral support, making it especially effective for students who struggle in traditional schooling due to behavioral challenges, autism spectrum diagnoses, or other neurodevelopmental needs. Because Academy services are part of a treatment program, families typically access them through Utah Behavior Services (Bridgeway), and students continue to receive their behavioral health services in tandem with academic instruction.
